Our Top 10 Best Wedding Songs Ever

A Wedding day is one event that every married person never forgets and the wedding songs have a way of sticking in the minds of couples. Even after many years, hearing the song played at your wedding always jogs your memory to the day you got hitched.

Kizaro's Blog has compiled our very own 10 of the best wedding songs of all time. Enjoy and let us know your favorite wedding song.

10. Drake - 'Hold On We're Going Home'

Canadian rapper, Drake had the idea for a wedding song that would last for ever. While its just a few months old, its classic retro 1980s synth-pop beat and syrupy lyrics has made it hugely popular and the choice of many wedding Dj's and marrying couples alike.

9. Tosin Martins - 'Olo mi'

Gospel artiste, Tosin Martins gave us this masterpiece in 2005 off his debut album and it was in heavy demand at almost every Nigerian wedding for years.

8. Cameo - 'Candy'

Popular 1980s R & B/Soul Band , Cameo released this in 1986 and while it was a good love song, the band were known more for their less emotional and more raunchy material. However the 1999 romantic comedy movie "The Best Man" shot the song back into reckoning when the main characters performed a charming dance routine at the end of the movie. The movie spawned plenty of copycats routines in a couple  of weddings this writer attended .

7. P Square - "No one be like you"

The Okoye twins gave us this out of their 2007 album titled "Do me" and it quickly became one of their most popular love songs ever. It was written as wedding song and is one of the most played Nigerian songs ever at wedding receptions.

6. Shania Twain - "From this moment"

This song from Canadian songstress from 1997 was hugely popular from a time when wedding songs were actually for the couple to slow-dance to as opposed to the high energy displays we see more of nowadays. One of the romantic songs ever recorded and our number 6 best wedding song ever.

5. Phil Collins - "Find a way to my heart"

From Phil Collins 1989 magnum opus album, "But Seriously". Though not as popular as the more known tracks like 'Another day in paradise' this song has endured just as well and has rocked weddings for more than two decades. It still pops up as the special number of musical bands and Djs at weddings.

4. Sunny Nneji - "Oruka"

Anybody who has attended weddings since this song was released in 2003 will be almost sick and tired of hearing it at weddings. A classic and probably Sunny's best and most enduring song ever.

3. D'Banj - "Fall in love"

Its Don Jazzy again! This ubiquitous hit song is the koko master's most popular love song till date.  A staple at weddings when it was released and for a number of years after. For some reason, women love this song to bits.

2. K-Ci & Jojo - "All my life"

If you have attended any wedding since this song came out in 1998 you should be tired of this song as well. It was an amazing expression of love and was written by Jojo for his infant daughter though the universal concept of love shines through marvelously and as such is our second favorite wedding song.

1. Al Green - "Lets stay together"

Our best wedding song ever should be a bit more popular with the slightly older folk though a classic enjoyed by all till today. It was part of the 1972 album from (now Reverend) Al Green. A masterpiece of soul music that is also one of the greatest songs ever recorded and the most played wedding song the world over. Its popularity had it sung by President Obama at a rally and used as soundtracks for movies such as "Pulp Fiction" among others.
