MODE NINE: "Let It Go" Reminds Us All Who's Boss

Mode Nine is back!
To lots of hip-hop fans like myself, the return of Mode Nine in 2013 was one of the best things to happen to the Nigerian hip-hop scene in a while. Nuff respect to the loads of talent in Nigeria but "Nigel Benn" still represents the true hip-hop head in its fundamental form. A rap puritan who despises commercial bling-bling rap thats represented by the tight sagging pants, colourful sun shade wearing crew that currently dominate the game and do more singing than spitting lyrics. Some call it rap's evolution, I call it "losing the essence".

Off his latest album, a joint project with Lagos based producer XYZ titled "Alphabetic Order" is "Let it go". Contrary to what was rumored about Mode Nine going commercial to boost his sales, his verses are still packed with intelligent punchlines and menacing innuendos in perfect tandem with XYZ's beats.

Enjoy
